Types of Roofs

There are two main categories of roofs: sloped roofs and flat roofs.

Flat Roofs

Flat roofs can be made up of a variety of materials and either have a single-ply membrane or multiple layers.  Most roofs are 2-ply SBS (styrene butadiene styrene), Single ply
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) or TPO (Thermoplastic Olefi).  Metal roofs and green roofs are also becoming increasingly popular.

Sloped Roofs

Sloped roofs are typically shingle or metal.  Shingles are most commonly made of asphalt or cedar wood. Sloped metal roofs are becoming increasingly popular.
